You really need to find out what kind of assorted cichlids these are before you go making a decision. Either way a 20 gallon is pretty small for even African Mbunas. I have seen people keep 1 – 2 Mbunas (Labs) in a 20 and they did well, but for a sufficient community you would need at least a 55 gallon. As Anthony said, there are some cichlids out there that would work in a 20, or even a 10 (like shell dwellers) but they are not very common at those chain pet stores like Petsmart. Please make sure to do your research before making a decision.
