Cichlids are VERY agressive, They will kill the other fish.

most people recommend NOT mixing cichlids with other fish. they are agressive towards one another and moreso toward other fish.
this is VERY true of afircan cichlids – they require a ph around 8.0 – most other aquarium fish dont like it that high.
they cichlids will also prob get big enough to eat the barbs (if they dont kill them fist)

Nah, they would consider the barb to be a meal.

the rosy barbs need to be 2x the size of the cichlids you want to get. get babies if at all possible, to start them in a established tank, so they might leave the rosy barbs alone.
if you do add the cichlids, try adding females because the males are VERY territorial.
