Your jack dempsey was scratching..that’s a sign of “ich” it’s a disease that alot of fish get…you better treat it, if you still have him.
wow thats a pretty jd how big is it
nice lookinn jack i just put blue rocks in my tank and it makes mine look way better
i miss my j.d. he was 10.5 inches and caught bloat :’(
sometimes just being around a bigger fish can stress the smaller one out, another possibility is that the bigger one already established dominance, the dominate ones usually grow faster, i had two buttikoferi tilapias in one tank that i got at the same time and they really liked each other, but one was still 3 inches while the other one was 5.5, i seperated them and the smaller one went through a growth spurt, try seperating for a bit

how long did it take him to get that big and colorful
im jd eats everthing i put in my tank from lobsters, to sucker fishes, to other cichlids. Does anyone know the life span of these fish?
Well one of them is probobly a female and the male likes her!
i am having a problem with 1 of my 2 JD’s i bought them at the same time and roughly the same size but one of them is getting larger and the other is still just as big when i got him and there is no sign of bullying so if you can PLZZZ HELP!!!
Then why would they stay in the same cave, the little one seems like I see him eat more than the big one, especially when feeders are in the tank. Is it possible they are opposite sex do jacks even pair off?
how long did it take for ur jack to get 7-8 inches big?
the other ones smaller because it gets bullied, its a combo of not eating enough and stress.

they are beautiful fish. they must be a real conversation piece when you have guests.
They were sold together I believe – I inherited them from a friend – and I didn’t know they were male + female at first. They never mated (or successfully if so) that I knew of, but they did seem to get along well.
